When buying a car on the Costa Blanca you will need some documentation to be able to settle the contract: Title deed for your home in your name or a rental contract. NIE number (Obtained from the Police station) Certificate of Empadronamiento ( Obtained from the town hall) These documents must be presented no matter if you buy a new or second hand car. When buying a new car the car dealer will make sure that the car is registered in your name. This hold for most of the second hand car dealers as well. You should thought investigate when buying a used car if the transfer has been handled correctly. When buying a used car directly from the owner your must agree who does the paperwork and pay the transfer cost.(4%) You can do the transfer yourselves or get a local Gestor to do the paperwork for you. If you do the transfer of your new used car yourselves the place to go is the Trafico office at the Jefatura Provincial de Trafico in Alicante.
